An Intentional Farm, Frith on GROW Live, & Paywalls Suck

An Intentional Community’s Farm

On the last no-till podcast, we had Pam Dawling of Twin Oaks Community Farm in Virginia. Selfishly, on all of our parts, the conversation kept leaning into the context of the farm, the intentional community. We could go on about how interested we are cooperative farm models—we half-heartedly scheme almost daily, anyone in?—because we feel it’s another under represented method of building farm resiliency and creating farm-life balance. Instead, you can check out this amazingly congenial video about the Twin Oaks Farm and Community.

Pam Dawling of Twin Oaks Community in Louisa, VA. She ran a 3.5-acre vegetable farm to feed her 100 member intentional community for 20 years. She is also an accomplished author. Learn about the amazing farm and community in this video.

Our Man Daniel Mays on Growers Live

Daniel Mays joined Josh Sattin and community on Growers Live on Tuesday. If you haven’t already, check out his episode of the podcast. It was the first for good reason, we feel Frith Farm is on the leading edge of bio-intensive market gardening with regard to soil health. In the Q&A, he covers remineralization on plot setup, how he forms new beds, the maturing use of cover crops and compost on his farm, when/how to sow and terminate cover crops, HIS BOOK?, turkeys, interplanting, hedgerows, and so on. Pull it up on your phone and plug in your earbuds while you flip through seed catalogs or harvest spinach.

No. More. Paywalls.

In case you missed it, we’re removing the paywalls from our bonus content. Keep a lookout over the next few weeks for the previously patreon-only bonus material to be going up on our YouTube channel. In short, paywalls suck, and it’s counter to the spirit in which we created No-Till Growers. Farmers, sharing information and experiences over the fencerow. Only the fencerow happens to be an internet connection. However, it’s almost solely because of our Patreon support that we’re able to do the podcast, GROWERS Live, additional video, etc. You can also support our work by picking up a sweet No-Till Growers or Farmacist hoodie or t-shirt from our new online store. More styles coming soon, including baby onesies.
